WELCOME TO THE 68th ROYAL DARWIN SHOW
‘Experience the best of the Territory’
The annual Royal Darwin Show brings all the exciting elements which make up an agricultural show – showcase, competition, education and entertainment. Dogs, cats, cattle and photography – you will see it all at the show.
This year we are celebrating ‘Year of the Pig’ and Vandeleur’s Racing Pigs will be at the show once again to help us celebrate.
Exhibits:
Rotary Hall houses art craft and cooking with superb exhibits created by all the family on display. Stewards are on hand to give you advice on everything from patchwork to pickles.
Horticulture Hall is filled with floral art, fresh flowers, fruit and vegetables bonsai, honey and orchids. Patrons will have the opportunity to pick up some excellent gardening tips from our experienced stewards and judges and sample some tasty fresh fruit grown locally.
Livestock:
The Joe Yates Pavilion is home to small livestock which includes poultry, pigeons and goats. The Small Animal Nursery is also housed here and small patrons have an opportunity to take a photo with a baby animal.
View some of the best stud cattle in the Northern Territory and listen to the judges point out the various components they look for in a champion. Judging takes place on Thursday and Friday
Food:
A growing highlight of the show has become the diverse types of food for sale which reflects our multi-cultural diversity – Asian, French, Canarian, German, Aussie, Italian – literally a smorgasbord for all tastes.
Entertainment:
There is a great line-up of street style entertainment, the many and varied horse disciplines on the main arena and Live at the Bandstand featuring professional and amateur performers, dinosaurs and chain saw sculpting.
Information and Education
A wide variety of stalls will be operating at the show providing information and education for all members in the family. Many of them have giveaways so make sure you visit as many as you can.
Carnival
Sideshow Alley always has exciting rides for the adventurous as well as games of skill so if you looking for a thrill you will find one there.
Make sure you have a program which appears in the NT News at the beginning of show week so you plan your time at the show to get the best from the experience. It only happens once a year.
And don’t forget our grand finale on Saturday as once again we say good night with a fabulous fireworks spectacular to music.
Come and ‘experience the best of the Territory’ at this great community event.
